The EARTH-SHIP program has chosen to increase public awareness for a global warming problem by using the same technique the Clearwater Organization did on a local basis in New York's Hudson River Valley.

The Clearwater Organization was founded by the well-known American folk singer Pete Seeger. The concept behind Pete's vision was simple. He felt that when students and young people were exposed to the reasons behind the increased pollution in New York's Hudson River they would do something about it.

That is exactly what happened. Students began to ask so many questions about pollution in the Hudson River that local schools had to add special environmental classes to their curriculum. When the students aged, the lessons learned on the decks of the Clearwater helped them to make decisions that benefited the entire Hudson River community.

The EARTH-SHIP program will use the same principle to help the global community to address global warming problems, global warming prevention chief among them.

But the situation today is vastly more urgent than pollution in one river in the United States could ever be. The problem today is global and we need to act now.
